The Aussie music industry is in a state of gradual change as the old guards are replaced by new, more diverse faces that represent a much wider, contemporary Australian lived experience. In our fourth instalment of Normal People we profile Body Type - long-time friends of Heaps Normal and four legends challenging the rock and roll cliches - living their own version of normal all while balancing professional careers and creativity.

Tagging along for their Australian tour in Naarm, we sat down with Sophie, Annabel, Georgia, and Cecil to talk imposter syndrome, bootleg band merch and circle pits.

Making waves in the global music scene since 2016 with their signature power-pop meets 90s college radio sound reminiscent of bands like Pavement and Bikini Kill, NME’s Doug Wallen describes Body Type as, ‘a band that brings out the best in each member. The band is reshaping the music landscape, by raising a finger to the patriarchal norms that perpetuate stereotypes and undermine the growing force of female and non-binary musicians.

As they continue to evolve, Body Type is overcoming deeply ingrained beliefs, challenging preconceived notions, and embracing their unique identities with an unmatched ferocity.

We joined forces with our mates at Nice Film Co. to bring this latest instalment of our Normal People series to life. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
